More Power to You

One of the themes of our trip on Friday was electricity.

Wherever you plug in your iPod, however you answer your telephone, whichever Internet provider feeds you information, the power for all our telepathic devices has to get from somewhere to somewhere else.

We really liked this pole. It has room for four separate sets of three-phase conductors, two higher-voltage and two lower.

You can judge the voltage a line is carrying by the number of insulators separating it from the power pole.

These older-style three-phase frames probably date from around the time Hoover Dam was built.
